Active Requirement
A request for a quote on a part from a customer or prospect. Generally to be active the part has not been sourced or quoted yet to the customer or prospect.

BackOrder
1.If a part is sold that is not in inventory or currently on order yet it will be considered backordered until a purchase order is created to fill the negative quantity. 2.A backorder is created if you create an invoice with less qauntity than that specified on the sales order.

Barcode
A barcode (also bar code) is a machine-readable representation of information. In SDS 3 you may add barcoded information to all printable forms that contain part numbers.

Bill of Materials (BOM)
A document that lists all electronic, electrical, and mechanical components, and supporting materials that are required to manufacture an assembly, and gives the quantities used. The BOM will use reference designators that uniquely identify each component and material, including associated part/find numbers. A BOM is used for part procurement and, in conjunction with the assembly drawing(s), shows which parts are positioned where on the assembly.

Database
A database is a collection of data that is organized so that its contents can easily be accessed, managed, and updated. (Contacts, Sales Data, Purchase Data, ETC)

Datasheet
A datasheet is a document summarizing the performance and other characteristics of a component (e.g. an electronic component) a sub-system (e.g. a power supply) or software in sufficient detail to be used by a design engineer to design the component into a system

Gross Profit
Amount of profit left over before all charges and fees have been deducted from the total sale.

Harmonized Tariff Code - (HTC)
Harmonized tariff codes are the universal customs standard that you must use to conduct trade efficiently on a global scale. Defined by customs authorities internationally, tariff codes are used to classify products for trade statistics, duty calculation, tariff assessments, and documentation filings.

International Organization for Standardization (ISO)
ISO - The stated mission of ISO is to promote the development of quality standards and related activities in the world to facilitate the international exchange of goods and services.

Known Good Die (KGD)
Most semiconductor die are tested at wafer stage, using probes. Unfortunately, these tests are rarely at full operating frequency, or cover the whole range of possible fault modes. As a result, when probe-tested chips are assembled into a package, there is usually some drop-out. The problem with multi-chip modules and other COB applications is that failures create at best a re-work opportunity, and at worst a complete failure of the entire module. There is therefore pressure on suppliers to test chips more fully, and this is done by a variety of methods, most of which involve making a quasi-permanent contact to the chip surface.

MFG
Short for manufacturer.

Net Profit
The amount of profit remaining after all costs and fees have been deducted from the total sale.

Offer
Price given (offered) to you or your company on a specied part.

Prefix
Prefix is generally used to "split" part numbers for easier indexing and searching. ex. MAX1487 Would be split. Max would be the Prefix and the PartNumber would be 1487.

Qty Allocated
This refers to the qty that has been already obtained or received towards a specific order or need.

RFQ
Short for Request for Quote.

RMA
Short for Return Merchandise Authorization. This form is required when a customer asks to return a part

RoHS Directive
The RoHS Directive stands for the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment.

RTV
Short for Return to Vendor. Identifies a vendor-side RMA. (Where you return product from PO to vendor)

Sales Type
Defines user defined sales types. Sales Types help organize data for reports and commision variables.

Trade Reference
A company that your client has already established a good business relationship with.
